As part of initiatives to support Ghana’s textile and apparel sector, the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry hosted a stakeholder engagement to encourage the local manufacture and purchase of uniforms.

On behalf of Sector Minister Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Deputy Minister Sampson Ahi chaired the meeting, which took place in the Ministry on Wednesday, July 9, 2025.

In his introductory remarks, Mr. Ahi reaffirmed the government’s dedication to developing the regional textile and apparel industry as part of the 24-Hour Economy Plus agenda, which seeks to increase national income and generate good jobs.

Key speakers included Nana Poqua Adiamah, National Coordinator of the Association of Garment and Apparel Manufacturers (AGAM), who provided insights into the potential of the garment industry, and Ken Asare, Factory Manager of Akosombo Industrial Company Limited, who gave an overview of the textile industry and its challenges.

In addition to open conversations with stakeholders, the session concluded with a request for more cooperation to promote industrial growth and improve local content.
