The Western Regional Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with a brazen daylight robbery that occurred at Nyanikrom, near Shama Junction, on Wednesday, July 9, 2025.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Affairs Unit, the arrests followed a targeted surveillance operation based on credible intelligence. The suspects were reportedly armed with insider information and had planned to rob staff of a company located at Nyanikrom, shortly after the staff had withdrawn funds from a bank in Takoradi.

The incident took place around 12:00 p.m. when the company’s staff, returning from the bank, were ambushed near Unique School Junction at Nyanikrom. The suspects, using a motorbike and an unregistered sedan vehicle, forcibly broke the vehicle’s window and made away with an amount totaling GHC 149,500.00, meant for salary payments.

Francis Mensah, alias Francis Kwaw, 34
Ebenezer Cofie, 32
Samuel Bentum, 35
They are currently in police custody and assisting with ongoing investigations.

Meanwhile, a fourth individual, identified as Maxwell Kofi Yeboah, a company driver alleged to have conspired with the robbers, is currently on the run. Police say efforts are underway to apprehend him.
The Ghana Police Service has commended the surveillance team for their swift response and has reassured the public of its commitment to ensuring safety and justice.
