The Interior Ministry announces April 1 and March 31 as holidays.

Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, have been designated as public holidays by the Ministry of the Interior.

This honors the Muslim holiday of Eid-ul-Fitr.

In honor of the Muslim holiday of Eid ul-Fitr, President John Dramani Mahama had already declared that an additional public holiday would be recognized.

The Ministry clarified that Eid-ul-Fitr, which falls on Sunday, March 30, 2025, is a statutory public holiday in a statement signed by Minister Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak on Saturday, March 22.

However, President Mahama has issued an Executive Instrument (E.I.) under Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act (Act 601) to designate the upcoming Monday and Tuesday as additional holidays in accordance with established procedures and for the benefit of the public.

This action recognizes the crucial contributions made by the Muslim community to Ghana’s national development and carries out a campaign pledge made by the president.
