Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, the Speaker of Parliament, has emphasized the value of listening to spiritual advice and pointed out that not all religious leaders are driven by financial gain.
As people age, their spiritual lives tend to take precedence over their physical ones, the Speaker noted during a Monday, August 11 visit to the family of the late Alhaji Limuna Mohammed Muniru.
“We are more spiritual than physical. When you are young, the flesh is stronger. As you grow old, the soul and the spirit dominate. When you get to a very advanced age, the spirit is stronger. Every elderly person will tell you,” he said.
He urged the public to take seriously the words of Imams, Reverends, and Pastors, stating, “Don’t take what they say for granted. If they say something act on it.”
According to him, He personally listens to prophecies and has benefited from spiritual interventions.
“I can’t say somebody who is not in Parliament would know parliamentary work more than me.
And so, I don’t know about the spiritual world more than those who are taking it as a career,” he explained.
Bagbin encouraged the family and all present to find comfort in faith and the assurance of God’s will.
He reminded them that even in moments of loss, there is divine purpose at work.
“Please, once again, let us, in this grieving, not forget about the power of the Almighty God. All works for our good. And we’ll continue to thank him for giving us these precious lives for the service they render to us. And we pray that He finds a good place in general for them to stay until we meet again. I thank you,” he added.
