The father of the 16-year-old boy who was engaged in the horrific accident that killed two little girls in East Legon on October 12, 2024, Bishop Salifu Amoako, has urged calm and asked Ghanaians to refrain from making assumptions about the tragedy.
Speaking to his followers at Alive Chapel International on Sunday, October 20, the well-known religious figure voiced his displeasure with the continuing debates about the disaster, calling it an unfortunate incident rather than a premeditated act.
In his defence, Bishop Amoako made it clear that his son had not intentionally committed any crimes.
“It was an accident,” he said, adding “My son did not carry a gun to kill anybody. He involved himself in a terrible accident, and I am not the one who did it, nor his mother. It is my name, that is why people are talking.”
The bishop thinks that because of his fame, there is more public interest in the issue. Who would have brought up the possibility that this was an Okada [motorcycle] accident? It’s only because of my name,” he continued, advising everyone to shut up and have faith that “the Lord will step in.”
The two girls were killed in a horrific fire that trapped them after the boy, who was driving a Jaguar, caused the accident. Since then, the occurrence has sparked intense discussion and public scrutiny, with enquiries concerning the events leading up to the terrible crash being made.
Bishop Amoako expressed hope that the truth would be revealed and urged his followers and the general public to exercise patience and wait for the proper procedure to be completed, despite the tragedy of the incident.
