Special Bono Region Poll: NPP could lose 4 seats – Global Info Analytics

According to a special survey by Global Info Analytics, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) may lose these seats in the parliamentary election scheduled for December 7 in the Bono Region’s Berekum East, Berekum West, Sunyani East, and Sunyani West constituencies.

According to the Executive Summary of the report, this development is partly attributable to apathy on the part of NPP members.

“In the parliamentary elections, the polls show the ruling party could lose all the four seats as the incumbent MPs come under siege as desertion and apathy hit the party in the region,” it explained.

Here are excerpts of the report:

NDC’s Simon Kyeremeh leads the NPP’s Hon. Nelson Kyeremeh by 53% to 38% in Berekum East. 2% of voters plan to support other candidates, while 7% are unsure. Also, according to the poll, 35% of Nelson Kyeremeh’s 2020 supporters now plan to vote for Simon Kyeremeh of the NDC; 51% of his 2020 supporters plan to support him once more; 3% plan to support other candidates; 7% are unsure; and 4% plan not to cast a ballot.

The incumbent, Hon. Kweku Agyamang Boateng, is behind his opponent, Dickson Kyere-Duah of the NDC, 28% to 31%, in Berekum West. 34% are unsure, and 8% plan to vote for someone else. Additionally, the survey reveals that 11% of voters who supported Hon. Agyemang Boateng in the 2020 election plan to support Kyere-Duah; just 26% of his supporters in that same election want to support him again; 5% plan to support other candidates; 25% are unsure; and 33% plan not to cast a ballot.

Ransford Antwi, an independent candidate, has a commanding lead in Sunyani East after receiving 38% of the vote. Second position goes to NDC’s Seid Mubarak (27%), followed by Hon. Kwesi Ameyaw Cheremeh (13%), while 22% of voters are unsure. The survey also reveals that 14% of Hon. Cheremeh’s 2020 supporters plan to support NDC candidate Seid Mubarak, while 45% support independent candidate Ransford Antwi. Merely 14% of his electorate expressed their intention to re-support him, whereas 20% are undecided and 5% will abstain from voting.

However, with a 25% to 47% lead over Millicent Yeboah Amankwaa, Sunyani West’s Minister of Employment, Hon. Ignatius Baffour Awuah, may be headed out of parliament. 24% are unsure, and 4% plan to vote for another candidate. It was unknown during the polling period if Bernard Oduro Takyie would run in the constituency as an independent.

According to an analysis of the poll, Baffour Awuah has lost 34% of his 2020 supporters to NDC candidate Millicent Amankwaa. Of those voters, just 34% plan to support him again, 3% will vote for someone else, 20% are unsure, and 12% will not cast a ballot.
