Hon. Andrew Asiamah Amoako, the second deputy speaker of parliament, has directed the Local Government and Rural Development Committee and the Parliamentary Select on Defense and Interior to examine the factors that have contributed to fire outbreaks at different markets across the nation in recent years and report back to the House.
Additionally, within the first week of the second meeting of Parliament, Hon. Asiamah Amoako directed the Joint Committees to submit their report and offer suggestions on how to stop fire outbreaks at the marketplaces.
This recommendation was made by the second deputy speaker following a floor statement by Hon. Kofi Obiri Yeboah, the member of parliament for Subin, regarding the disastrous fire outbreaks in Adum, Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
Hon. Kofi Obiri Yeboah voiced worries over the increased number of fire occurrences and their destructive effects on businesses in a statement read in the chamber today. He underlined that in order to reduce the risks and stop additional damage, immediate and drastic action must be taken.
The MP made the statement in reference to the devastating fire that recently broke out in Adum and Magazine, damaging portions of the industrial center and causing significant losses for numerous craftsmen and spare parts sellers.
Concern about the fire breakouts has spread throughout the nation, highlighting the necessity of improved regulations and infrastructure to protect local market vendors’ livelihoods.
