Afrobeats star, Divine Ikubor known as Rema, has wholeheartedly made a gift of 105 million naira to various departments of the Christ Embassy church in Benin, Edo State, in appreciation of the kindness shown to him and his family.

The donation was made during a service Rema attended on Sunday, September 1, 2024.

Rema expressed deep gratefulness to the church for its steady support, particularly during the challenging period following his father’s death.

In a heartfelt gesture captured in a viral video, he acknowledged the church’s role in his life.

“I’m not here to give myself any accolades or glory. I’m here to give God the glory. It’s important to give back because the church has embraced me, prayed for me, and kept my spirit strong” he said.

Rema announced specific pledges, stating, “Firstly, I want to pledge N40 million towards the church’s infrastructure. I also pledge N20 million to Rhapsody of Realities. Since I grew up in the teen’s church, I’m donating N25 million to enhance its infrastructure. Additionally, I’m pledging N20 million to support widows in the church today.”

Rema also shared a personal story of how the church supported his family during a difficult time.

“When I was eight years old and lost my dad, we felt lost and abandoned. Everything we had was taken from us, and we felt very alone. I remember Pastor Joy and Pastor Thomas, the pastors of this church, opened a shop for my mum, which helped her take care of us,” he recalled.
