Following a head-on collision between a Sprinter bus and a VIP coach at Atwedie, close to Juaso, on the Kumasi-Accra route, seven persons passed away and many more have been injured.
When the incident happened on Friday, October 11, the VIP bus, registration number AC 1550-17, was on its way to Accra from the northern region of Ghana, while the Sprinter bus, registration number AS 6413-16, was travelling from Accra to Kumasi.

The five people on the Sprinter bus carrying tomatoes died together.
There was also a fatality on the VIP coach.
A number of other passengers on the VIP bus were sent to the Juaso Government Hospital after they suffered injuries of various degrees.

One of the injured passengers eventually died while receiving treatment. Firefighters removed the bodies locked in the trucks, and they have been deposited at the Steward Mortuary in Yawkwei.
