REPORTS: Former Chelsea and Brazil Star Oscar Hospitalized in São Paulo, Poised to Retire from Football

Brazilian midfielder, Oscar dos Santos Emboaba Júnior has been admitted to the Albert Einstein Hospital in São Paulo after falling ill during training earlier today.

Medical examinations have confirmed that the 34-year-old suffered a cardiac abnormality, prompting immediate intervention from club medics and hospital specialists. Reports indicate that Oscar’s condition is stable, but the incident has compelled him and his family to place his health above football, with strong indications that he will announce his retirement in the coming days.

Oscar’s professional journey began with São Paulo FC, where his brilliance quickly caught national attention. He later joined Internacional, before earning a dream move to Chelsea FC in 2012, a transfer that cemented his place among Europe’s elite midfielders.

During his four-and-a-half-year spell at Stamford Bridge, Oscar became renowned for his creativity, work rate, and eye for goal, winning the Premier League, Europa League, and League Cup titles with the Blues.

In 2017, he made a high-profile switch to Shanghai Port in China, becoming one of the league’s standout performers and one of the most influential foreign players in Asian football. In December 2024, he returned to São Paulo FC, hoping to close his glittering career where it all began.

However, fate seems to have drawn an early curtain on the journey of one of Brazil’s most talented playmakers of his generation.
