The Tamale Central Constituency’s National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primary has been won by Professor Seidu Mahama Alidu, a former head of the University of Ghana’s political science department. He defeated 11 other candidates with 840 votes.
There were 1,500 legitimate ballots cast in all, and one ballot was returned. His closest opponent, former Tamale Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Abdul Hanan Gundadow, received 536 votes.
With a resounding win, Prof. Alidu is guaranteed the NDC’s parliamentary ticket to succeed the late Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed.
