Prestea United FC have officially confirmed the acquisition of Division One League club Ebiemo FC, paving the way for the mining town to have representation in Ghana’s second-tier league ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The announcement was made in an official statement issued by the club’s management on Thursday, revealing that the owner of Prestea United had completed the acquisition of Ebiemo FC and relocated the club to Prestea to spearhead football development in the municipality.

According to the club, the initiative is aimed at promoting football, creating opportunities for young talents and fostering community pride in Prestea and its surrounding areas.

As part of preparations for the new campaign, Prestea United announced that preseason training will begin on Monday, July 27, 2026, at the Awulae Amihere Kpanyinli III Sports Arena in Ampain, Nzema.

The club also disclosed that all its home fixtures for the 2026/27 Access Bank Division One League season will be played at Ampain due to ongoing renovation and upgrade works at the Prestea Scot Park.

Management, however, assured supporters that the team would return to Prestea once work on the stadium is completed.

“Upon completion of the maintenance and upgrade works at Prestea Scot Park, the club will relocate all home matches back to Prestea to play in front of its home fans,” part of the statement read.

The club believes the acquisition represents a major step towards restoring competitive football in Prestea while strengthening the area’s football ecosystem.

Prestea United have also extended an invitation to media houses, journalists and football stakeholders to cover the club’s preseason activities, with accreditation details expected to be announced in the coming days.

The acquisition is subject to the completion of all necessary regulatory processes in accordance with the Ghana Football Association’s statutes governing club ownership and participation in its competitions.
