Sulemana Braimah, the executive director of the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), is putting more pressure on Attorney-General Dr. Dominic Ayine to identify the member of parliament who reportedly received payment to undermine a story on the National Service Scheme (NSS) fraudulent activity.
He claims that if the Attorney-General mentions the legislator’s name, it will be for the sake of transparency and to save Parliament’s reputation.
Dr. Dominic Ayine stated at a press conference in Accra on Monday, March 24, that the Chief Executive Officer and other National Service Authority (NSA) officials allegedly paid a member of parliament money in order to allegedly influence the media to end the NSS ghost names investigations.
After questioning eight suspects connected to the National Service Scheme affair, Dr. Ayine said that several of them had produced incriminating evidence.
“Because these matters are still under investigation, I can confirm that the investigation will conclude in the National Service and the Sky Train Scandal by the middle of April for the prosecution to begin.
“With the National Service Scandal, eight suspects have been interrogated and a good number of them have started singing. We now have evidence of payments that were made into the accounts of the top executives of the National Service by private vendors of the scheme.
“We also have evidence that in November 2024, the CEO of the NSS and others paid a Ghanaian Member of Parliament to kill the story in the media and to defend them,” he stated.
But in a post on his Facebook page, Sulemena Braimah said “We call on the Attorney General (AG) to name the said MP to whom money was given to kill the story. Doing so will be in the interest of transparency and also to protect the reputation of Parliament.”
