In the horrific murder of a senior lecturer at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), whose body was recently found hidden in his own house, police have detained a major suspect.
A significant development in the ongoing inquiry occurred when officials verified that the arrested person had numerous of the dead lecturer’s personal things.
The lecturer, Joshua Karry Arthur, was arrested yesterday, Thursday, May 22, 2025, at his home in the Winneba district of Essuokyir.
Police officials visited the residence after receiving a report from the lecturer’s colleagues the day before, and it was there that they uncovered the devastating find.
After discovering bloodstains inside the house, investigators located the lecturer’s body buried behind a nearby pile of sand some 23 meters away.
Importantly, it has been established that objects found straight from Joshua Karry Arthur are those of the late lecturer. These include a laptop, a 50-inch TV, two Samsung phones, and a Toyota Fortuner car key, all of which are important pieces of evidence in the continuing inquiry. Joshua Karry Arthur will shortly be formally arraigned in court.
He is presently being held by the police and is actively participating in investigations. The public has been reassured by the Central Regional Police Command of their steadfast dedication to seeking justice in this matter.
