Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, the vice president of the Republic, has returned to Ghana from the United Kingdom after receiving extensive medical care after a brief illness.
Her medical leave, which started after she apparently became ill on Friday, March 28, 2025, has ended with her return. For assessment and care, she was first brought to the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC).
The Vice President was in stable health and responding well to treatment, according to a statement released by the Office of the President on Sunday, March 30.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang was sent to the UK for additional medical treatment after being released from UGMC.
Officials stressed that the action was preventive and essential for her complete recovery, but they did not make public any information on her condition.
It is anticipated that Prof. Opoku-Agyemang would return to her formal activities in the days ahead, as her return home is viewed as a comforting indication of her recovery.
