Parliamentarians are currently on a three-day retreat in Ho, the capital of the Volta Region, during which the Minority in Parliament is not participating.
Frank Annoh-Dompreh, the minority chief whip, indicated in Parliament that they had to avoid the retreat because they believed it would be expensive for the state.
Their actions are in line with the president’s desire to reduce expenses as much as feasible in order to aid in the reconstruction of Ghana’s economy.
In order to save the nation money, he gave the example of reducing the number of ministers and ministries and deciding to have the Independence Day procession at the Jubilee House. He also said that Parliament must follow suit.

“The main stance is that we wish to save costs, Mr. Speaker. As with the previous retreat, let’s hold it here since the chamber is large enough to accommodate all of us. Cost is really significant,” he stated.
