Community mining in the Ellembelle district of the Western Region of Ghana has become one the major concern of citizens as activities of such continuous to destroys lands and important water bodies in the area.
Many concerns have been raised by individuals, groups, and traditional leaders in the Ellembelle district over how the activities of illegal mining ‘galamsey’ has led to a destruction of their lands and major water bodies such as the Amanzule; the source of drinking water to most surrounding towns.
Recently reported that a committee has been set-up to look into matters surrounding the ‘galamsey’ activities in the district. This committee is chaired by the Paramount Chief of the Eastern Nzema traditional council, Awulae Amihere Kpanyinli III.
Just in, reports gathered indicates that the Ellembelle Community Mining has been registered as a private limited liability company incorporated on February 28, 2023.
Allegedly, the director involved in this case is the Paramount Chief of the Eastern Nzema traditional council, Awulae Amihere Kpanyinli III and Mr. Apeni Francis of the Ellembelle DCE’s office.
