Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has unveiled Ghana’s squad for the upcoming international friendly matches against Austria and Germany, as the national team intensifies preparations ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The two high-profile encounters are expected to serve as crucial preparatory fixtures for the Black Stars, offering the technical team an opportunity to assess squad depth, test tactical approaches, and build stronger team chemistry against quality European opposition.

Heading the goalkeeping department is Accra Hearts of Oak’s Benjamin Asare, who currently stands as the first-choice goalkeeper for the Black Stars following his remarkable performances in recent outings. He will be supported by Lawrence Ati-Zigi (St. Gallen) and Joseph Anang (St. Patrick’s Athletic), providing healthy competition and depth between the posts.
DEFENSIVE OPTIONS
In defence, Otto Addo has assembled a solid and versatile group featuring Patrick Pfeiffer (SV Darmstadt), Derrick Luckassen (Pafos FC), Derrick Kohn (Union Berlin), and Jerome Opoku (Istanbul Basaksehir).
They are joined by Caleb Yirenkyi (FC Nordsjaelland), Kojo Oppong Pepprah (OGC Nice), Jonas Adjetey (VFL Wolfsburg), Marvin Senaya (Auxerre), Alexander Djiku (Spartak Moscow), and Gideon Mensah (Auxerre), giving the Black Stars a well-balanced defensive structure.
MIDFIELD DEPARTMENT
The midfield will once again be marshalled by the experienced Thomas Partey of Villarreal, whose leadership and technical quality remain instrumental to Ghana’s setup. He will operate alongside Elisha Owusu (Auxerre), Ibrahim Sulemana (Cagliari), and Kwasi Sibo (Real Oviedo), forming a dynamic midfield capable of controlling the tempo of play.
ATTACKING FIREPOWER
Upfront, the Black Stars boast an exciting blend of pace, creativity, and attacking prowess. The forward line includes Brandon Thomas-Asante (Coventry City), Jordan Ayew (Leicester City), Prince Adu (Viktoria Plzen), and Christopher Bonsu Baah (Al Qadsiah).
They will be supported by Abdul Fatawu Issahaku (Leicester City), Inaki Williams (Athletic Bilbao), Antoine Semenyo (Manchester City), Kamaldeen Sulemana (Atalanta), and Daniel Agyei (Kocalispor), providing the Black Stars with multiple attacking options.
The friendly fixtures against Austria and Germany form part of Ghana’s broader preparations toward the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with Otto Addo aiming to refine his squad and strengthen tactical cohesion.
