The C.C. Blay Foundation, under the stewardship of Dr. Clement Clinton Blay, has officially unveiled the maiden edition of the Osagyefo Memorial Cup 2026, with the Eikwe Astroturf confirmed as the host venue for the landmark grassroots football tournament scheduled for Friday, July 3, 2026.

The competition, instituted to honour the enduring legacy of Ghana’s first President, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, while promoting unity, youth empowerment, and community development through football, is expected to attract significant attention across the Ellembelle District and beyond.

Six teams have officially been confirmed for the inaugural edition, setting the stage for a highly competitive tournament promising intensity, local rivalry, and exciting grassroots football action. The participating clubs are Anokyi United, Christian Academy, Baku Football Club, Ellembelle City, Menzenzor United, and Eikwe Football Club.

Organised by the C.C. Blay Foundation, the tournament reflects Dr. Clement Clinton Blay’s broader vision of using sports as a catalyst for social transformation, talent identification, and community engagement. This year’s edition is also expected to benefit from enhanced media coverage and increased visibility within the local sports ecosystem.

The Eikwe Astroturf is already generating strong anticipation, with football enthusiasts expecting a blend of technical discipline, youthful energy, and competitive flair as teams from various communities battle for supremacy.

Organisers have indicated that the competition will be staged in a structured format designed to ensure fairness, excitement, and maximum participation, alongside ceremonial activities that will pay tribute to the Osagyefo legacy.

The maiden edition is widely seen as a potential benchmark for future tournaments, with aspirations of positioning the Osagyefo Memorial Cup as a permanent and prestigious fixture within Nzemaland.

All eyes now turn to Eikwe Astroturf on July 3, 2026, where six determined sides will battle not only for silverware, but also for pride, recognition, and a lasting place in the history of the competition.
