Atlantic Lithium, an Australian mining company developing Ghana’s first lithium mine, has suspended operations following a fatal accident at its Ewoyaa project site.

A statement from the business verified that an employee passed away yesterday while performing their job. There are still unanswered questions regarding the occurrence.

Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation, according to the statement, and senior leadership from Atlantic Lithium is on site to provide assistance.

The message said, “We are deeply saddened to report this loss.” The company offered their complete support during this trying time and sent their sincere condolences to the deceased’s family, friends, and coworkers.

After obtaining a 15-year mining permit last year, the Ewoyaa project, which is situated in Ghana’s Central Region, was anticipated to make a substantial contribution to the nation’s lithium output.

The growth of the mine was essential to the future of Atlantic Lithium, as a recent analysis predicted that millions of tonnes of spodumene concentrate will be produced during the mine’s life.
The project’s timeframe is probably going to be delayed as a result of the operations suspension. The investigation’s conclusions are anticipated to lead to a revision of safety procedures and practices.

After listing at GH₵4.40 in May, the company’s share price is currently trading at GH₵6 on the Ghana Stock Exchange.
