Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) Director of Elections and IT, has reminded the Electoral Commission (EC) to keep its word and provide political parties access to the the registration of voters.
This comes after the EC promised during last Tuesday’s Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting that the register would be made available by today, October 8, 2024.
In light of the impending general elections in 2024, Dr. Boamah believes that transparency and justice require the release of the voter registration.
He highlighted in a Facebook post on Tuesday that political parties will be able to validate voter data and correct any inconsistencies prior to the polls if the register is timely made available.
The NDC Director of Elections highlighted that missing this deadline will lead to needless stress and mistrust in the electoral process.
He urged the EC to fulfil their obligations and uphold the credibility of the election schedule.
In order to prevent misunderstandings and delays in the run-up to the elections on December 7, Dr. Boamah also advised the EC to enhance communication with political parties and other important stakeholders.
