NZEMA KOYELE YOUTH PETITIONS THE GOVERNMENT ON NZEMA AFFAIRS

Information reaching Ekuzoanews has it that, a strong petition has reached the office of the President and other arms of government concerning Nzema affairs. find details below.

H.E. President Mahama

President of the Rep. of Ghana

The Jubilee House

Accra

30th November, 2025

Dear President,

PETITION BY THE YOUTH OF NZEMALAND TO THE

                        GOVERNMENT OF GHANA.

We the Youth, Chiefs, Queen mothers under the big umbrella of Nzema Koyele Eku (United Association of all Nzemas across the globe) hereby petition the government on the following:

BUSINESS: That all establishments willing and ready to do business in Nzemaland must do so through the Overlord of Nzemaland (Tumivole Kaku Aka III). He is the allodial, owner of the Nzemaland.

The Overlord as accepted by all well-meaning Nzemas has been marginalized far too long. The then NDC government sought his support only when they were in dire need after an injunction was placed on the construction and operationalization of the Ghana gas infrastructure by the now embattled Awulae Amihere Kpanyinli III, who is a caretaker paramount chief of Eastern Nzema Traditional Council.

The marginalization of the Overlord has led to deserving royalties, cooperate social responsibilities eluding the people Nzemaland.  The Nzema enclave has in no doubt yielded oil, gas, gold in commercial quantities making Nzema an economic power house when it comes to our contribution to the GDP. Nzemaland is prone to danger from the oil and gas industry operations due to lack of proper emergency response systems to curb potential disaster or incident obviously due to a disparity in the sharing of the national cake.

The environmental impact assessment and its implementation has become a subject of secrecy to the citizenry. Amidst these God given wealth and natural resources and our corresponding contributions to the GDP, yet Nzemas continue to wallow in abject and debilitating poverty. The inequitable distribution of infrastructure in Nzemaland has occasioned a systemic discomfort among our indigenes. We therefore plead with the government to establish a State-of-the -Art Skill Training Center in oil and gas in Jomoro. In the entire Nzema oil enclave there is no Modern hospital to care for victims when disaster strikes. The country must take cognizance of the fact that the hen that lays the Golden Egg must not be starved.

We want to petition the government to launch a forensic audit and investigation into the sale of the Osagyefo Barge at EFFASU in the Jomoro District. In the area of monikers of companies and entities, none of the companies on Nzema soil bears any Nzema name. This is very disingenuous and a loud insult to Nzemas. Tourism abounds in the Nzemaland yet we do not feel the economic impact of such in our districts.  To further underscore Company monikers, it is noteworthy to amplify with examples about natural resources found, established, and named after the area as done in the following locations viz., Aboadzi Thermal Plant, Obuasi Goldmine, Tarkwa Goldmine, Tema Harbour, Prestea Goldmine, Takoradi Harbour, Tema Oil Refinery, Akosombo Dam and many others. What about the Nzema name and what is wrong with naming a company or government entity on our soil with some of our great leaders?

What is more disparaging is to see or read names like ENI, Ghana Gas, and Adamus on our soil. We do really think this is a humiliation and disrespect to all peace loving Nzemas. This is Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s Nzema and that man must be projected

MINING: The lands in Eastern Nzema have been allotted to Adamus as concessionary tenancy with 12 companies to mine of which the Overlord Tumivole Kaku Aka lll is not privy of such. Towns around the areas have been deprived of farmlands.

At this juncture, Mr. President, it is extremely important to bring to your attention that galamsey at the Minister’s backyard, Ellembelle, has reached an alarming criticality and intensity as manifested in the turbidity of the major rivers and tributaries in the Nzema area. The Amanzule River, the Franza, Fia, the Juaen rivers and many others which serve as the main source of drinking water are wreaked with the miasma of mercury, cyanide and other heavy metals. Our lands in our districts are under virulent attack by galamseyers and this is very disheartening as galamseyers boldly destroy the land with impunity.

Interestingly, the Member of Parliament for the Ellembelle constituency, Honorable Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah who doubles as Minister of Lands and Mineral Resources has made no attempt to stop the ongoing galamsey and the menace is spreading like bush fire. Galamseyers are having a field day in Elembelle. Mining license was issued to a foreign company in the month of August this year which covers Tikobo N0.2, Sameye Mpataba and Nuba all in the Jomoro district. Yet the MP was heard on live TV denying on the issuance of such mining licenses. Galamsey is being done at the expense of people’s lives in Nzemaland.

CHIEFTAINCY DISPUTES: The Koyele Eku (Unity Association) over the past years has taken notice of Hon. Emmanuel Armah Kofi’s meddling in chieftaincy affairs in Nzema, inciting other chiefs against the Overlord of Nzema Tumivole Kaku Aka lll. He has on many occasions introduced former Awulae Amihere Kpanyinli of Eastern Nzema as the Overlord of Eastern Nzema to the party hierarchy. Yet he sneeringly denies doing that. This has brought about confusion and animosity in the chieftaincy fraternity. The Nzema history, devoid of canards, has  been incontrovertibly established that during the Gold- Coast era the whole Nzema was under the Awulae ( King) Kaku Aka 1, the only chief who refused to sign the bond of 1844 brought about by Commander Hill. History can never be obliterated and Tumivole Kaku Aka lll will forever remain the brave king of the Nzemas. Awulae Kaku Aka I will remain the paladin and trailblazer even in contemporary Nzema tradition and history.

We plead with the government to call Hon. Armah kofi Buah to order. Nzemas have for the longest time remained a peaceful people and would like to remain so. Nzemas loathe antagonism but will not hesitate to resist Hon. Buah’s obnoxious meddling in the affairs of chieftaincy. He must take note that his snooping conduct in chieftaincy is earning a negative image for the government and NDC party is gradually becoming unpopular. We are petitioning the government and the NDC to release his oppressive claws on the neck of Nzemas.

 DEMANDS:

  1. Nzemas would like the government to accord equal recognition to all non-gazetted Paramount Chiefs instead of the one-sided recognition by Hon. Buah.  He must be involved in all dealings by the government insofar as the Nzema land is concerned.
  2.  Nzemas need to get their fair share of the national cake

3.   We ask that an oil and gas school be established in Nzema and to revive our coconut oil

      4.  We petition the President to change the name Ghana gas to Nzema gas or Atuabo gas

     5. We need good roads (Town roads) in Nzema.

     6. The youth of the Nzema districts need employment and the government should caution

politicians against excessive protocols as such breeds unhealthy jealousies and hatred.

Thanks for your time and in an anticipation of an actionable response.

Yours sincerely,

CC:
