Four-time New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Ellembelle Constituency, Hon. Kwasi Bonzo, has suffered a major setback in his bid to become the party’s Western Regional Secretary after being disqualified from the contest over an educational qualification issue.

The disqualification follows the conclusion of the NPP’s vetting exercise for aspirants seeking to contest various regional executive positions ahead of the party’s internal elections.

According to the vetting committee, candidates vying for the position of Western Regional Secretary are required to possess a degree, a requirement the committee determined Mr. Bonzo did not satisfy.

The decision has brought an unexpected development to the race, given Mr. Bonzo’s long-standing association with the NPP and his years of service within the party’s structures in the Western Region.

Mr. Bonzo, a former Ellembelle District Chief Executive (DCE), has represented the NPP as its parliamentary candidate for the Ellembelle Constituency in four previous general elections, establishing himself as a prominent figure within the party’s political landscape.

His disqualification has sparked discussions among party members, with some highlighting his commitment, grassroots mobilisation efforts, and contributions to the NPP’s activities in Ellembelle and beyond.
