NDC seeks Court injunction to halt EC from printing Amenfi Central ballots

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has requested an injunction to prevent the Electoral Commission (EC) from publishing the notice of poll and parliamentary ballots for the Amenfi Central seat.

This legal move comes after the EC recently disqualified Joana Gyan Cudjoe, their parliamentary candidate.

The reason for Cudjoe’s disqualification is an interlocutory injunction issued by the Sekondi High Court, which prohibits the EC from accepting her as the NDC’s nominee for the elections scheduled for December 7.

According to reports, the court’s order comes from an ongoing legal dispute over Cudjoe’s eligibility that hasn’t been settled or dismissed, preventing her from running in the parliamentary election.

As a result, the NDC contends that the EC would violate their candidate’s rights and the legal process if they kept printing ballots without finding a solution.

Until the legal matters underlying Cudjoe’s disqualification are resolved, the NDC is asking the court to impose an injunction prohibiting the EC from printing or distributing ballot materials for Amenfi Central.

As the election date draws near, this revelation severely complicates the party’s campaign in the constituency.
