The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged the Electoral Commission (EC) to convene an emergency meeting to address “very serious discrepancies” uncovered during the ongoing voter exhibition exercise.
In a letter to the EC Chairperson, NDC General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, expressed concerns over inconsistencies between the Provisional Voter Register (PVR) and exhibition center records.
“We write to request an important emergency meeting with you and your team to discuss very serious discrepancies discovered during the ongoing 2024 voter exhibition exercise,” the letter stated.
The NDC raised questions about the integrity of the election process by citing disparities found in the study of the PVR and exhibition centre registers.
“We anticipate a favourable and timely response as we work towards free, fair, and transparent elections,” Kwetey emphasized.
The opposition party’s need for an urgent meeting highlights how urgent attention to these differences is to maintain a legitimate electoral process.
