NANS-UCC Election: Sir Bismark officially confirmed winner of National Association of Nzema Students, UCC Chapter Presidential ticket.

The University of Cape Coast Chapter of the National Association of Nzema Students ( NANS-UCC) on Sunday, June 30, 2024, organized its internal elections to elect new executives for the 2024/2025 academic year with the supervision of NANS-UCC Electoral Comminssioner.

Among the many portfolios or positions contested, the most highly competitive was that of the Presidential ticket between Desmond Ackah (Team Desmond) and Bismark Nwiah-Kwofie (Sir Bismark).

This academic year’s election according to some members of the association has been one of the most ‘heated’ and active one as far as campaign is concerned. Both sides contributed greatly to presenting their visions to the members of the association through the release of flyers containing their policies and vision.

Out of 89 members who participated in the election, Sir Bismark secured a vote of 51 and Team Desmond also obtaining 38 representing a percentage of 57% and 43% respectively making Sir Bismark the winner of the presidential position.

Below is the breakdown of the election results in percentage as released by the office of the NANS-UCC Electoral Commission.

Sir Bismark won the presidential portfolio with Miss. Matilda Sackar ( Miss. Tilly), a committed and vibrant member for the association.

BRIEF BACKGROUND ABOUT SIR BISMARK

Master Bismark Nwiah-Kwofie hails from Adusuazo in the Jomoro Municipal of the Western Region of Ghana. He has lived in Nzema Aiyinasi in the Ellembelle District of Ghana where he attended his primary, Junior High School and secondary school in the Aiyinasi Catholic PRIM/JHS and Bonzo Kaku Senior High School ( BOKASS) respectively.

Currently, he is at the University of Cape Coast pursuing a Bachelor of Education, Economics, and Geography in level 300. His passion for self-development has imbibed in him the ability to avail himself of leadership positions and of community service.

LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE

Having served as the Boys’ Prefect both in Primary and JHS and continued as the Library Prefect in SHS, he has never stopped discovering himself on the leadership ladder.

He has served in associations, unions, and hall parliamentary councils. He was the Financial Committee Head for the SRCH Hall House of Parliament, Deputy Majority Chief Whip, Deputy Majority Leader for the 6th, 7th and 8th SRC Hall House of Parliament. He also served as the former deputy students and academic affairs for National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS), UCC Local for the 2022/2023 academic year.

Through hard work and improved results, he was identified by the National Association of Nzema Students, Ghana ( NANS-GH) and given the appointment as the Deputy Public Relations Officer for the 2022/2023 academic year.
