Midfield Maestro Simba Sparks Basake Holy Stars’ 2-0 Victory over FC Samartex 1996

Basake Holy Stars FC extended their impressive run with a 2-0 victory over FC Samartex 1996 on Sunday, December 14, at the Awulae Amihere Kpanyinli III Sports Arena in Ampain.

Under the guidance of Coach Johnson Smith, the hosts notched their third win in four matches, climbing to 13th place on the league table with 16 points.

The breakthrough came early in the 6th minute when 24-year-old midfielder Sylvester Simba scored a brilliant opener. The experienced playmaker was perfectly set up by Francis Asante’s expertly delivered free kick, which Simba converted with clinical precision, sending the home fans into euphoria.

Just before halftime, Simba turned provider, threading a precise pass to Prince Tweneboah, who made no mistake in doubling the lead in the 45th minute. The goal marked Tweneboah’s fifth consecutive home strike, giving the hosts a comfortable cushion and further compounding the visitors’ woes.

Despite late pressure, FC Samartex 1996, who remain 7th on the Ghana Premier League standings with 21 points, were unable to mount a comeback. Basake Holy Stars’ defensive organization, led by captains Moses Author and Jacob Boazee, ensured a clean sheet and a well-deserved victory.

Looking ahead, Basake Holy Stars will travel to Tarkwa to face Medeama SC, while FC Samartex 1996 will host Heart of Lions at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena in Samreboi.
