Real Madrid and Spain women’s national team star, Athenea del Castillo Beivide, has opened up about her personal life, revealing that despite her fame and success, she often feels overlooked by men.
In a recent interview, the 24-year-old winger expressed concern that many men perceive her as “unapproachable” or “out of reach” because of her career status and public image.
“Men don’t approach me,” Athenea admitted candidly. “I think many of them see me as unattainable, maybe because I play football, or because they think I’m too focused on my career. But at the end of the day, I’m just like anyone else, I want to meet people, laugh, and connect.”
Athenea, who has been one of Real Madrid Femenino’s standout performers and a key figure in Spain’s World Cup-winning squad, said her demanding football schedule leaves little room for a social life. However, she insists that she’s open to love, even if her fame sometimes makes things complicated.
“It’s funny because people assume that being on TV or playing for Real Madrid means I get a lot of attention, but the truth is quite the opposite,” she continued. “Most guys don’t dare to even say hello. Maybe they think I wouldn’t be interested, but that’s not true.”
“At the end of the day, I’m just Athenea,” she said with a smile. “Not the footballer — just me.”
