Ghana Premier League champions Medeama SC have announced the signing of highly-rated centre-back Yaya Abdul-Rahman on a three-year contract after the expiration of his deal with fellow top-flight side Karela United.

The 23-year-old defender joins the Mauve and Yellow following an impressive spell at Karela, where he established himself as one of the most consistent and dependable defenders in the Ghana Premier League.

Abdul-Rahman earned plaudits for his calmness in possession, excellent positional awareness and commanding displays at the heart of the defence, qualities Medeama believe will strengthen their squad ahead of a demanding 2026/27 campaign.

The Tarkwa-based club are preparing to defend their Ghana Premier League title while also mounting a strong challenge in the CAF Champions League, making squad reinforcement a top priority during the current transfer window.

The former Karela United stalwart becomes Medeama’s fifth signing ahead of the new season, joining Sudanese goalkeeper Monged Elneel Abuzaid Salman, Dominic Amponsah, Emmanuel Boateng and Etse Dogli at the reigning league champions.

Medeama have been one of the busiest clubs in the transfer market as head coach Ibrahim Tanko continues to reshape his squad with quality additions capable of competing on both the domestic and continental fronts.

Abdul-Rahman is expected to link up with his new teammates immediately and will be hoping to make an instant impact as the Mauve and Yellow seek to build on last season’s success.
