Zone Two leaders, Basake Holy Stars beat Beposo Asekem 2:0 on Sunday afternoon to recover from two successive defeats in the National Division One League.
Before today, the Basake based side had lost 2-1 to King Faisal and 1-0 home defeat to PAC Academy.
The consecutive defeats massively affected their ambitions to qualify to the Ghana Premier League.
As a result, Basake Holy Stars set up strong today when they hosted Asekem FC at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park.
Throughout the week 16 encounter of the league campaign, the host played well in bid to score goals to see off their opponent.
While the team faced a stiff competition from Asekem FC throughout the game, the Green and Blacks breakthrough in the 32nd minute when talented striker Abdul Hussein Bashiru headed home the opener.
With six minutes to end proceedings, debutant Daniel Adjei Kamkam pounced from a Francis Asante corner kick to seal the victory for the home side.
Thanks to the victory today, Basake Holy Stars has reclaimed the top spot of the National Division One League, Zone II standings.
Meanwhile, Asekem FC are in 15th and are battling for survival.
