Mahama to MMDCEs: Use DACF wisely or face dismissal

-

According to President John Dramani Mahama, the government will make the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) first quarter available.

This comes after criticism from the Minority, who claimed that the Finance Minister purposefully withheld funds from important government agencies in spite of established legislative requirements and the availability of resources almost six months into the new government.

On Friday, May 30, while on his Thank-You tour in the Bono East Region, the President issued a warning: Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) risk being fired if they do not make efficient use of the resources allotted to them.

“The Minister of Finance is about to release the first quarter of the District Assemblies Common Fund. As I said, 80% of the money is going directly to the regions for you to decide how to use it. So, MMDCEs, you have no excuse.

“We will send you the guidelines, approved at the last Cabinet meeting, to show how the funds should be disbursed. This will serve as your Key Performance Indicators. Every year, we will assess your performance, and based on that, we will decide whether you stay or go,” he said.
