Mahama Directs Reopening of Nurses Recruitment Portal

President John Dramani Mahama has directed the Ministry of Health to reopen the nurses’ recruitment portal to facilitate the employment of qualified nurses across the country.

The directive forms part of the government’s efforts to strengthen Ghana’s healthcare system by addressing personnel shortages in public health facilities while creating employment opportunities for trained nurses awaiting posting.

Although an official date for the reopening of the portal is yet to be announced, the Ministry of Health is expected to release detailed guidelines outlining the application process, eligibility requirements and recruitment timelines.

The move is anticipated to bring relief to thousands of qualified nurses who have completed their training and licensing processes but have been waiting for recruitment into the public health sector.

Healthcare stakeholders have consistently advocated the recruitment of more nurses to improve service delivery, particularly in underserved communities where shortages of health professionals continue to pose challenges.

Government has maintained that investing in human resources remains a key pillar of its agenda to improve healthcare delivery and ensure equitable access to quality medical services across the country.

Prospective applicants have been advised to rely only on official communication from the Ministry of Health and avoid fraudulent recruitment schemes circulating on social media.

The reopening of the recruitment portal is expected to boost staffing levels in health facilities and enhance the delivery of quality healthcare services nationwide.
