The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) deputy director of elections, Mahdi Jibril, has angrily refuted allegations that the party’s flagbearer, John Mahama, cut Minority Chief Whip Muntaka Mubarak and former minority leader Haruna Iddrisu from the National Campaign Team for the general elections scheduled for December 7.
There have been claims that the exclusion of the two seasoned politicians from the NDC Campaign Team, which was released, indicates a tense relationship between the former president and the two former NDC leaders in Parliament.
On June 19, 2024, the NDC General Secretary disclosed a list of party experts that will comprise the NDC’s campaign squad.
Mahdi Jibril, however, asked the public to view the accusation against the former President with the disdain it merits because it is obviously untrue when speaking on Ghana Kasa on Kasapa 102.5FM.
He said that the propaganda meant to sow discord within the NDC was being backed by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Jibril also mentioned that the Asawase MP, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, had never participated in the NDC National Campaign in any previous election.
“A lot of individuals are raising a lot of claims against Haruna Iddrisu and Muntaka Mubarak’s exclusion, especially NPP members. When did Muntaka join the NDC national campaign team?
In the Ashanti Region, Asawase is among the challenging places to vote. To win, any candidate running for office in that area will need to concentrate on that constituency. Muntaka must concentrate on his constituents, whom the ruling New Patriotic Party is determined to win back. He said.
