On January 15, 2026, Hon. Lawyer Aka Watson, Assembly Member for Awiebo-South and Ebi, commended Ellembelle MP Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah and DCE Hon. Joseph Agyekum for fixing the collapsed River Ebi bridge near Tandan and Awiebo. The bridge had been down for three years, causing hardship for residents and motorists. The community is breathing a sigh of relief as the bridge’s repair will ease transportation and boost economic activities in the area.
Some members of the community shared their concerns and challenges faced over the past three years due to the poor state of the road and bridge. Farmers, in particular, struggled to transport their goods and vegetables from farms to market, leading to post-harvest losses and reduced income. “It was tough, we’d lose produce because we couldn’t get them to market on time,” said one farmer. The repaired bridge is expected to improve access to markets, schools, and healthcare facilities.
Hon. Lawyer Aka Watson praised the officials for addressing the issue promptly. “This is a huge relief for our community. We thank the MP and DCE for listening to our cries,” he said. Community members and youth groups also lauded the move, saying it shows commitment to development in Ellembelle.
The repaired bridge is part of ongoing efforts by the District Assembly to improve infrastructure in the area. Residents are hopeful this will spur more development projects, boosting the local economy and improving livelihoods.
