Karela United’s all-time top scorer, Diawisie Taylor, has reaffirmed his strong emotional ties with the club by making a generous donation ahead of their Ghana Premier League Matchday 18 fixture against Aduana FC at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park in Dormaa.
The former Medeama SC and Al-Merrikh SC forward supplied the team with bottled water, energy drinks and assorted groceries at their camp, a gesture intended to boost morale as the Passioners brace themselves for a stern test against the Ogya Boys.
According to Taylor, the donation is meant to encourage the players to approach the encounter with renewed determination and give their utmost on Sunday afternoon.
Taylor remains one of the most celebrated figures in Karela United’s history. He burst onto the scene during the 2016/17 season after joining the club from Access Bank Division One League outfit Gold Stars, becoming the most expensive signing in the club’s history at the time. His exploits at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park in Aiyinasi quickly elevated both his profile and the club’s stature.
Beyond his league exploits, Taylor also left an indelible mark during the 2019 Normalisation Committee (NC) Special Competition, where he finished as joint top scorer alongside Asante Kotoko’s Abdul Fatawu Safiu with 10 goals. That memorable campaign saw Karela United fall narrowly to the Porcupine Warriors on penalties after a 1–1 draw in regulation time.
The 26-year-old forward reached the pinnacle of his domestic career in the 2020/21 season when he emerged as the Ghana Premier League’s leading marksman, a feat that earned him a move to Egyptian side Future Stars for the 2021/22 campaign.
