Leaked: Galamsey captured right behind Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum at Nkroful. (Pictures)

In an effort to curb the dangers associated with the activities of illegal mining (galamsey) in Ghana, the story around galamsey activities continues to deepen as more and more sites continue to be revealed.

In Nkroful, the birthplace of Ghana’s first Prime Minister and President, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, galamsey activities cannot be taken out when counting areas where galamsey has taken ground.

In a disturbing photos circulating online show the bad condition of the Subile River that is right behind the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum. The Subile River has a piece of Dr. Nkrumah’s history and is thus seen as a tourist site for many tourists but Galamsey has finally polluted the River which has ‘washed out’ its relevance.

These pictures were taken by the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) when they visited Nkroful for the NkrumahFest.
