The Ghana Football Association President and CAF 2nd Vice President, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has paid a special visit to Bibiani Gold Stars as the club intensifies preparations for its maiden appearance in the CAF Champions League.
The visit took place at the club’s training grounds (University of Ghana’s Mensah Sarbah Park), as Bibiani GoldStars SC faced S. Inkoom FC in a preseason friendly that ended in a goalless draw.

The call on the team underscores the GFA’s commitment to supporting Ghanaian clubs on the continental stage and ensuring that they are well-prepared for the demands of international football.
Gold Stars, after a remarkable performance in the just-ended Ghana Premier League season, secured a place in Africa’s elite club competition for the very first time. Their qualification marks a historic milestone for the club and the entire Bibiani community.

During his visit, Mr. Okraku interacted with the players, technical team, and management, encouraging them to carry the flag of Ghana high and show determination and professionalism throughout the competition.
His presence was not just symbolic but motivational, as he emphasized the importance of discipline, teamwork, and national pride.
In recent years, Ghanaian clubs have faced significant challenges in CAF Inter-club competitions, often falling short in the early stages. The GFA has, therefore, increased efforts to support clubs through logistical assistance, technical development, and exposure to international standards.
Kurt Okraku’s visit is seen as a strong statement of unity and leadership from the top, reinforcing the association’s readiness to walk hand-in-hand with clubs aiming for continental glory.
He reiterated that the GFA is working closely with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and other stakeholders to improve club licensing, infrastructure, and funding support.
As Gold Stars gear up for their continental debut, the enthusiasm among their fans and the local community is palpable. The team is currently engaged in intensive training and may line up a series of friendly matches to sharpen their form before their CAF Champions League journey begins. With the backing of the GFA and the inspiration from the President’s visit, Gold Stars are determined to make a strong statement in Africa and etch their name into the history books of Ghanaian football.
