Kotoko Reassigns Hamza Obeng to Focus on Youth Development

Asante Kotoko have announced a strategic reshuffle within their coaching staff, with Coach Hamza Obeng relieved of his dual responsibilities to concentrate exclusively on the club’s youth setup.

Obeng, who previously served as Second Assistant Coach for the senior team while also leading the youth team, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He is a former assistant to Samuel Boadu at both Medeama SC and Accra Hearts of Oak SC, and notably guided Vision FC to the Ghana Premier League during the 2023–24 Access Bank Division One League campaign.

The announcement reportedly came as a surprise to Coach Zito, highlighting the club’s determination to optimize its coaching structure and strengthen player development at all levels.

By placing Obeng solely in charge of the youth side, Kotoko aims to invest in the next generation of talent, ensuring a steady flow of homegrown players capable of making an impact in the senior team. His extensive experience is expected to provide a solid foundation for the club’s academy and future stars.

This move signals Kotoko’s continued commitment to balancing immediate performance in the Ghana Premier League with long-term developmental goals that will shape the club for years to come.
