KIRIN CUP: Ambassador Kojo Choi Inspires Black Stars Ahead of Crucial Clash with South Korea

Ghana’s Ambassador to the Republic of South Korea, Kojo Choi, has delivered a stirring message of encouragement to the Black Stars ahead of their international friendly against the Taegeuk Warriors.

The Korean-born Ghanaian diplomat urged the squad to shake off last Friday’s defeat to Japan and approach the upcoming match with renewed belief and determination. His visit brought a wave of motivation to the camp, as he commended the players and acknowledged head coach Otto Addo, whom he fondly recalled watching during Ghana’s iconic 2006 World Cup campaign.

Addressing the team passionately, Ambassador Choi highlighted the deep respect Ghana enjoys on the global football stage.

“You are ready, and Korea holds great respect for you. When they speak of Africa’s football powerhouses, Ghana is always mentioned first. You are here representing that greatness. Do you think you are small? No, you are not.”

He encouraged the players to take advantage of the opportunities created by the absence of several senior squad members.

“We faced a tough defeat in Japan, and I know the coach is trying new ideas. Some of our big boys are not here — but that only makes this the perfect moment for you. This is your chance to take the shot you believe belongs to the big boys.”
“’Tsoboi!’ Tomorrow is the day.”

The Black Stars continue their preparations without Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo and AS Monaco defender Mohammed Salisu, who both exited camp after the Japan match. Midfielder Francis Abu has also been ruled out following a serious injury.

Despite these setbacks, Ambassador Choi’s inspirational visit has lifted spirits in camp and strengthened the team’s resolve ahead of the Seoul showdown.
