The Clerk of Parliament has been instructed by Speaker of the House Alban Bagbin to provide a copy of the report of the ad hoc committee that was formed to look into a recording that was leaked about the plan to remove the IGP from office to the President for any additional action that may be required.

The committee’s report was adopted by Parliament after that.

The three senior police officers, Chief Officer Alex George Mensah, Superintendent George Lysander Asare, and Superintendent Emmanuel Eric Gyebi, committed misconduct, which is a serious offence under police regulations and calls for disciplinary action in line with the Police disciplinary procedure, according to the committee’s report, which was not signed by the committee’s chairman, Samuel Atta Akyea.

Following the house’s adoption of the report, Mr. Bagbin issued an order that said, “The report is accordingly adopted.” I can only order the clerk of parliament to provide a copy of this report—which was just approved by the house—to His Excellency, the President, in his capacity as the chairman of the police council, so that he may take whatever additional action the house determines is required.
