The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has called on President-elect John Dramani Mahama and Vice President-elect Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang to honour the overwhelming mandate granted to them by Ghanaians through dedication and hard work.

Speaking after their victory in the December 7 general elections, Bagbin commended the duo for their resounding win and reminded them of the significant responsibility they bear in meeting the expectations of the electorate.

“I applaud the president-elect, his excellency John Dramani Mahama and the vice president-elect her Excellency, Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang for scoring an emphatic victory and a heavy mandate of Ghanaians at the just-ended general elections. I need not remind anyone of the saying that to whom, much is given, much is expected.”

Bagbin reminded the newly elected leaders that the promise to reset Ghana, a key campaign pledge, has been firmly endorsed by the voters. He underscored that this immense support carries a significant expectation for the delivery of tangible results.

“Your promise to reset Ghana has been massively endorsed by the voters, and you cannot afford to disappoint them,” Bagbin added.

The Speaker of Parliament also expressed confidence that the legislature will be a dependable partner in ensuring the success of the Mahama administration, serving as a crucial gatekeeper in safeguarding the integrity of the delivery of the promised reforms.

“I trust Parliament will be a reliable partner and a gatekeeper to ensure a just delivery of that promise.”
