Herbert Krapa has been approved by Parliament to serve as the Energy Ministry’s Minister of State-designate.
Days before, the Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin had asked for his permission and screening to be expedited, but the Minority had opposed the request.
Following the selection of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Energy Minister, as Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s running mate, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Vice President Akufo-Addo last week nominated the Deputy Energy Minister to be a Minister of State at the Energy Ministry.
The Majority Leader therefore requested the House to fast-track some of the processes in place to ensure vacuum is not created at the ministry.
The Minority disagreed, claiming that the current Energy Minister was still in office.
This problem returned to the forefront yesterday. The Appointments Committee then suggested that he be approved.
The report was adopted despite the minority staging a walkout in protest.
