Gospel musician Kofi Sarpong promoted to DCOP as IGP decorates 22 police officers

Ghanaian gospel musician and police officer Kofi Sarpong has been elevated to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) in the Ghana Police Service.

The celebrated gospel artiste was among 22 senior police officers who received their new ranks following their promotion within the Service.

Inspector-General of Police Christian Tetteh Yohuno led the decoration ceremony, formally adorning the officers with their new ranks.

A video of the ceremony circulating on social media shows Kofi Sarpong, formerly an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), receiving his new rank alongside the other promoted officers.

His promotion is seen as recognition of his years of dedicated service and contribution to the Ghana Police Service.

Kofi Sarpong has, over the years, successfully combined his policing career with his passion for gospel music, establishing himself as one of the notable gospel musicians in Ghana.

He is particularly known for gospel songs such as “Meto Ndwom” and “Adom Bi,” among several other releases that have resonated with Christian music lovers.

His elevation to DCOP adds another feather to a multifaceted career that has seen him serve the nation through law enforcement while simultaneously making his mark in Ghana’s gospel music landscape.

The promotion has consequently drawn attention to the rare feat of balancing a demanding career in the Police Service with a successful career in music.
