President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appointed Mr. Kwasi Agyei as the Acting Controller and Accountant General to lead the Controller and Accountant General’s Department.
This decision follows the resignation of Kwasi Kwaning-Bosompem from his previous position.
Mr. Agyei brings with him over 30 years of experience in the public sector, having previously served as the Deputy Controller and Accountant General in charge of treasury.
A highly experienced chartered accountant and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana, Mr. Agyei holds a Master’s degree in Accounting and Finance as well as an International Master’s of Business Administration.
His academic credentials include a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting and Finance and Economics.
Throughout his career, Mr. Agyei has served on various boards, including the Ministerial Advisory Board of the Ministry of Finance, the Ghana Road Fund Management Board, and the Railway Development Fund Committee.
He has also held several key positions in different organizations, including Director of Finance at the Ministry of Energy and Director of Accounting at the Ministry of Petroleum.
At a brief handover ceremony at the Treasury Head Office, Mr. Kwasi Agyei expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve the nation in his new capacity. He acknowledged the support and leadership of the immediate past Controller and Accountant General, emphasising the importance of teamwork and dedication in achieving organisational goals.
Mr. Agyei highlighted his commitment to creating a conducive work environment that fosters growth, recognises achievements, and prioritises employee welfare.
He stressed the significance of staff happiness and well-being in driving productivity and achieving objectives. In response, the Deputy Controller in charge of updates and investigations, Mr. Wisdom Komla, pledged the support of the department’s management and staff to Mr. Agyei as he takes on his new role.
He commended the exceptional leadership of the immediate past Controller and expressed confidence in Mr. Agyei’s ability to lead the department forward.
