GoldBod Partners Ghana Geological Survey Authority to Undertake Geological Investigations in Key Mineralized Areas

The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has taken a significant step toward strengthening responsible and data-driven mining in the country following the signing of a strategic agreement with the Ghana Geological Survey Authority (GGSA) to undertake comprehensive geological investigations in selected mineralized areas.

The agreement, signed today, authorizes the GGSA to commence Phase One of geological investigation works in three blocked-out mineralized zones-Funsi, Atuna, and Bensere East. The initiative forms part of GoldBod’s broader strategy to enhance sustainable mining practices while unlocking the full economic potential of Ghana’s gold resources.

According to details of the agreement, the GGSA will conduct extensive geological investigations over a four-month period to generate credible and reliable geological data. The findings from the project are expected to guide the establishment of model mines across the country, reinforcing GoldBod’s commitment to structured and environmentally responsible mining operations.

The cost for Phase One of the project has been pegged at GHS27.5 million, reflecting the scale and technical depth of the geological services to be undertaken by the state’s geological authority.

The three mineralized locations-Funsi, Atuna, and Bensere East, form part of a broader group of twenty (20) blocked-out areas released to the GoldBod by the Minerals Commission of Ghana. These areas have been designated for systematic exploration and development to ensure that mineral extraction aligns with national standards and best industry practices.

Officials note that the collaboration between GoldBod and GGSA represents a strategic alignment between two key institutions within Ghana’s mineral resource governance framework. By leveraging GGSA’s technical expertise in geological surveying and data analysis, GoldBod aims to build a robust database that will support responsible investment and sustainable exploitation of the country’s mineral wealth.

Through initiatives such as this, GoldBod continues to position itself at the forefront of efforts to promote sustainability, transparency, and efficiency in the mining sector while maximizing Ghana’s gold output for the collective benefit of its citizens.
