Goalkeeper Dubi Tayi wins MVP award after superlative display on GPL debut

Basake Holy Stars young goalkeeper, Dubi Tayi Kassi was named as the man of the match following his incredible debut performance in his side’s hard earned 1-0 win over his former employers, Karela United, on Sunday as he made his first appearance in the Ghana Premier League.

The 17-year old produced a masterclass as the Ghana Premier League new Boys sealed their first home win of the season at the Crosby Awuah Memorial (CAM) Park in Aiyinasi.

Interestingly, Prince Opoku had a goal ruled out in the 35th minute before scoring the match winner on the 80th minute with a diving header from a Prince Tweneboa’s inswinger.

Dubi Tayi joined the “Unbeatable team”, Basake Holy Stars ahead of the 2024/25 campaign from their former Neighbours, Karela United, having been promoted to the club from it’s feeder side Karela Stars last season.

He replaced first choice shot-stopper Abdul Wahab Abubakar in the matchday 6 fixture, where he received plaudit for his staggering exhibition on the afternoon.
