The Head of Corporate Affairs at the Ghana National Gas Company (GNGC), Richard Kirk-Mensah, has announced plans by the company to conduct a comprehensive human resources audit in response to growing concerns over overstaffing.
Speaking to Takoradi-based radio station Connect FM, Mr. Kirk-Mensah explained that the audit is intended to streamline the workforce and enhance operational efficiency.
He further stated that, due to the current concerns about overmanning, the company has suspended mass recruitment efforts.
The audit’s findings, he said, will inform future recruitment decisions.
“At present, the perception is that Ghana Gas is overstaffed,” he noted, highlighting that the company’s workforce has increased to over 1,000 employees, a significant rise compared to the approximately 275 staff left by the previous administration in 2017.
