The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that it has received financial clearance from the government to enable the payment of salaries for the remaining 6,249 teachers who were recruited in 2024.
In a press release dated October 16, 2025, and signed by Mr. Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations at GES, the Service stated that the approval will allow it to complete all necessary administrative and payroll processes to ensure that the affected teachers receive their due salaries.
According to the statement, the financial clearance, which expires on December 31, 2025, provides adequate time for the GES to place all newly recruited teachers on the mechanised payroll in time for November 2025 salary payments.
The release further expressed the Management’s appreciation to all staff for their patience and dedication to duty during the period of delay. It assured them of the Service’s continued commitment to facilitating timely and accurate salary payments across all levels of the education sector.
This development brings relief to the newly recruited teachers who have been awaiting their first salary since their engagement in 2024. It also reaffirms the government’s and GES’s efforts to address outstanding administrative and financial challenges within the education sector.
The Ghana Education Service emphasized its resolve to maintain transparency and efficiency in managing teacher welfare and pledged to continue collaborating with relevant agencies to sustain smooth payroll operations.
