A fuel tanker on the Sunday, July 28, reversed on the Cape Coast -Takoradi highway about 100 meters before the UCC east gate spilling fuel onto the highway.
It is not yet clear what caused the pod of the truck to fall on its side.
The spillage made that part of the stretch slippery, posing a threat to pedestrians and motorists.
Some individuals were seen risking their lives collecting the spilt fuel with gallons.
Emergency services were quickly dispatched to the scene.
Personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service and the Ghana Police Service were on standby to prevent any unfortunate situation.
Police officers diverted traffic away from the area to avoid further accidents
