Former Real Madrid and Dutch Star Royston Drenthe Hospitalised After Reported Stroke

Former Real Madrid and Netherlands international Royston Ricky Drenthe has been hospitalised after reportedly suffering a stroke, according to multiple reports from the Netherlands.

The 38-year-old ex-footballer, who played for some of Europe’s top clubs during his career, is said to be receiving medical care and under close observation. Details surrounding the incident remain limited, but sources indicate that Drenthe was rushed to the hospital after showing signs of a sudden health emergency.

Drenthe, once regarded as one of Dutch football’s brightest young talents, rose to prominence in 2007 when he joined Spanish giants Real Madrid from Feyenoord following an impressive FIFA U-21 European Championship campaign. Known for his pace, strength, and flair on the wings, Drenthe spent three seasons at the Santiago Bernabéu before going on to play for clubs including Hercules, Everton, Reading, and Alania Vladikavkaz.

After retiring from professional football, Drenthe ventured into music and acting, carving out a niche for himself in entertainment. He has also been involved in community projects and youth development initiatives in his hometown of Rotterdam.

In 2021 he was contracted by the Spanish Sports “El Chiringuito dey Jugones” as commentator.
